Holiday catch-up

That's right I haven't posted since July. :0 I've been having a bit of difficulty with my hand (R). Took me awhile to figure out how to use it in its limited capacity. I did get to painting in early October and finished these in early November. Yes, I missed Halloween but enjoy them anyway. Here's my version of some Sugar Sculls. They turned out fab, I think.

3"x4" mini

I've kept the bigger one and mailed the other.

Now the next holiday and I'm on time, just!

I didn't do many cards this year, dang hand just wouldn't cooperate. So here's what I was able to do. One painting and some stamping & heat embossing for the others.

First up, a Charlie Brownesque tree.

4"x6" canvas

It's a 4"x6" flat canvas on a 5x7 card base with splattered paint snow. Used my xyron 5" sticker machine which worked like a charm. Only problem, takes two hands to get the canvas positioned. (Ugh)

Next we have a normal type card. Saw this online and stayed pretty close to that design.

I do not have any patterned paper so out came the white paint and more splatters for snow. The layered tree and sentiment are from Hero Arts.
Well, that catches you up on my painting/crafting.
For all my blog friends here and overseas:

Merry Christmas and hope the New Year blesses you with good health, happiness and lots of crafting!

A quick card

Hello folks,

How's your summer going? Florida has been very toasty and H.U.M.I.D.! Step outside and you're instantly covered in 'skeeters.

I've been doing some cleaning and sorting and not much else. Took some time out today to make a best wishes and happy new home card for our maintenance guy. Sadly, because he no longer lives on site he can't be the maintenance guy. Today was his last day of working here.

So I quickly painted this card for him and his wife. The tree is a stamp from Penny Black. I used the misti to stamp it on the painted background in black paint. Didn't make a good impression but enough so I could see the shape. Then I added the foliage and extended the trunk. In my rush, I forgot to add some highlights to the tree trunk. Oh well, I'm happy with how this turned out.

That's it from me today. Enjoy your summer and stay cool.

Palette knife play

Good afternoon,

Thought I would quickly post this little canvas. I was playing with my painting knives. I.e.; palette knife. I love birch trees and used the bark in my mixed media work years ago, so I had a go at painting a small birch forest. I definitely will continue on this trek but use a much bigger canvas. This scrap piece is only 3.5" x 9"!

Have a crafty week.

Happy Spring?

Hopefully, it's Spring where you are. Here in Florida we've jumped right into an early summer with temps in the low 90s (F) already. That's end of May temps for us usually. I'm not complaining tho....I loves the heat!

Here's my latest painting. I was following a YouTube tutorial by #TheArtSherpa. I've changed the colors of my flowers to be more spring like from the dark purples and reds she used.

Love this one! Hope you do too.

I've got two more backgrounds started so I'll be back once they're all done.

Have a great weekend!

30 Day Coloring

Challenge is almost over. Whoosh... where did the month go?! I have been painting just haven't posted in a all month. My bad!

Here's a couple of my recent paintings. Playing around trying some new to me techniques...blurred edge and bokeh and hand drawn figures.

I like my Le Chat Noir, he looks like he put his tail in the electrical outlet. :)

My blurred buildings and a bit carried away with the bokeh. ;) Keeping control of the brush to make them was difficult and once I got going I kept going n going n going. Mz. Energizer Bokeh Bunny that's me! :)) Both techniques use matte medium to thin the paint and I have lots of that so I will be trying these again.

I now have two more canvases in the works and hope to have pics I can share before the end of the month.

Have a great weekend. Do something crafty.

Gearing up

...for the 30DayColoring Challenge at #thedailymarker30day.

With this in mind I got an early start. Waiting for this little miniature to cure thoroughly before adding the sealer. I'll use a gloss varnish to help brighten and bring out the color, which will enhance the stars.

Have a fabulous last day of February, hope you get to do something creative!

Hello and Happy February to you!

I hope winter has been a mild one in your neck of the woods. We have been enjoying beautifully warm days with highs in the 70s and low 80s! The few days below 60F have been tolerable. My kind of winter for sure!

I'm popping in today to share my batch of February birthday cards. There's three watercolored panels

and one stamp layered flower. The flower card is my version of spotlight coloring.

Hope you get to do a lot of crafting/coloring/painting this month. I'll see you in March for another #30DayColoringChallenge.
